Matt joined Wellington Orthodontic Associates in 1992 after completing a Master’s degree in Orthodontics at Otago University. He previously qualified as a dentist in 1982 and worked for several years in general dental practice both in New Zealand and overseas. Matt is married to Bernice and they have one son and two daughters. He enjoys cycling, running and spending time with family.
Colleen is thrilled to be part of a dedicated team in a modern, progressive practice. She is responsible for the management of administration, staff and all matters pertaining to the practice. Originally from Cape Town, Colleen gained her administrative experience working in South Africa, the United States and New Zealand before choosing Wellington as her permanent home. Colleen is an avid jazz fan, enjoys cooking and travel.
Monica joined the practice a year ago to provide administrative support and reception services. In addition to helping with the accounts Monica enjoys meeting and greeting patients and her friendly manner helps to ensure they have a positive experience.
Happily, Monica often treats teammates to her scrumptious cheese ball and crackers. She has two adult children and in her spare time Monica likes to relax and be social with her wide circle family and friends.
Ivy originally trained as a medical nurse. Since joining the practice as Frontline Administrator Ivy has also added Clinical Assistant to her experience. Ivy has a keen eye for detail and her caring and helpful approach puts patients at ease.
Ivy has many interests including walking, appreciating nature and good design, listening to jazz and watching documentaries and animation films. She is also a talented baker and foodie.
Bev is an energetic clinical team member working alongside the orthodontist. She loves to share her professional experience with the clinical team by helping with training requirements. Bev brings fun and laughter to the practice every day with her quirky sense of humour. She certainly lives up to her middle name Joy and believe it or not, her surname Gay! On weekends Bev is happiest pottering in her established garden and entertaining friends and family.
As a trained dentist Richard brings to the practice his passion for dentistry and is always keen to help with troubleshooting mechanical problems that sometimes arise in the practice. He joined the practice 8 years ago as an orthodontic auxiliary and from time to time he also helps in our In-house Laboratory making appliances for patients. Richard has a gentle and quiet approach and builds rapport with patients easily. His sense of humour is appreciated by patients and his teammates. Richard’s interests include travel, badminton, the odd game of darts and fishing. Don’t tell but he does have a secret recipe for a mean chilli oil!
Janelle joined the practice some 14 years ago and much of her work involves patients who are scheduled to have their braces removed and she finds it very rewarding being part of this exciting and happy celebration day for patients. Janelle is the recycling champion of the practice helping us all to be more conscious of our environment and reducing waste. Janelle’s children aged 8 and 6 are also champions helping to raise funds towards saving endangered Rhino in Africa and their efforts has attracted support from the founder of “Saving the Wild”.
Som worked for 11 years as a full-time registered Dental Therapist at the DHB before deciding to explore a career change in orthodontics and joining the practice. Som is passionate about delivering high quality care to patients and ensuring that they have a positive experience.
Som is a self-confessed foodie, loves to travel and watch online series/movies. Over weekends a nice long walk or hike in the country with her husband is welcome relaxation.
Debbie is an experienced dental assistant and her gentle nature and caring approach puts patients instantly at ease. She is married with two children, both of whom have undergone orthodontic treatment. Debbie maintains a keen interest in the performing arts especially ballet and contemporary dance. For relaxation Debbie enjoys watching a good game of netball, watching a movie or reading a great book, as well as spending time with her family.
Belinda loves her role as Treatment Co-ordinator because many of the patients she welcomes are the same age as her children. She joined the practice 21 years ago bringing her solid administrative skills to her role as Administrator. Belinda continues to update our appointments schedule template, various in-house reports and occasionally covers reception. A teacher by profession Belinda also helps with training requirements for the practice. Belinda is an adoring mother and an ideal day is spent with her three children.
Gabby is currently working towards the completion of her dental assisting certificate. In addition to her role as Clinical Assistant, Gabby also works as a Treatment Co-ordinator. She is always at the ready to greet patients and takes pride and pleasure in helping others.
Gabby holds a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance. Over weekends Gabby enjoys market shopping, coffees on the Waterfront and learning to skateboard. Road trips, days at the beach and the outdoors are also on her favourites list of things to do.
Christie brings lots of energy to her role and enjoys being part of the clinical team, greeting and helping patients at their appointments.
Christie is a talented artist and enjoys playing the guitar. Cheerleading keeps her fit and happy.
Jesse loves working as a Clinical Assistant, interacting with patients. Her warm and calming approach puts patients at ease.
Jesse’s favourite pastime is a visit to the beach on a warm and sunny day and spending time with friends.
