Matt joined Wellington Orthodontic Associates in 1992 after completing a Master’s degree in Orthodontics at Otago University. He previously qualified as a dentist in 1982 and worked for several years in general dental practice both in New Zealand and overseas. Matt is married to Bernice and they have one son and two daughters. He enjoys cycling, running and spending time with family.
Catherine graduated with her BDS in 2010 and worked for 2 years at Waikato District Health Board. She then travelled around the UK and Europe before returning to the University of Otago to specialise in orthodontics. Outside of orthodontics, Catherine enjoys spending time with the love of her life, her dog Agnes. She also enjoys reading, travelling and visiting her family in the deep south.
Colleen is thrilled to be part of a dedicated team in a modern, progressive practice. She is responsible for the management of administration, staff and all matters pertaining to the practice. Originally from Cape Town, Colleen gained her administrative experience working in South Africa, the United States and New Zealand before choosing Wellington as her permanent home. Colleen is an avid jazz fan, enjoys cooking and travel.

Michelle works part-time three days per week as Frontline Administrator. She thoroughly enjoys interacting with patients and her friendly manner helps to ensure their time at the practice is a positive experience. In Michelle’s spare time she spends time with friends and family and seeks out the best cafes Wellington has to offer.
Ash works 2 days per week as Frontline Administrator. Ash welcomes opportunities to greet patients to the practice with her warm smile, helpful approach and sense of humour. She spends much of her time and energy volunteering as a youth leader. To wind down her free time is spent hidden away in her makeshift studio, writing and recording music. You may even spot Ash busking with her guitar on the weekends!
Bev is an energetic clinical team member working alongside the orthodontist. She loves to share her professional experience with the clinical team by helping with training requirements. Bev brings fun and laughter to the practice every day with her quirky sense of humour. She certainly lives up to her middle name Joy and believe it or not, her surname Gay! On weekends Bev is happiest pottering in her established garden and entertaining friends and family.
Tania trained as a dentist in the Philippines and is committed to her chosen field of work. She finds stimulation in furthering her knowledge and practical experience in orthodontics. Tania loves a good read and over weekends explores Wellington with her husband. They are proud parents of their first child, a precious wee girl.
Richard and his family are originally from the Philippines. As a trained dentist he brings to the practice his passion for dentistry and is always keen to help with troubleshooting mechanical problems that sometimes arise in the practice. Richard has a gentle and quiet approach and builds rapport with patients easily. His sense of humour is appreciated by patients. Richard’s interests, apart from family, include travel, badminton, golf and the odd game of darts.
Janelle originally joined our practice as a treatment coordinator and later qualified as an orthodontic auxiliary. Working part-time on Mondays and Wednesdays, Janelle thrives in this role. Much of her work involves patients who are scheduled to have their braces removed and Janelle finds it very rewarding being part of this exciting and happy celebration day for patients. Janelle and her husband have two children, a girl and boy. Long walks, often accompanied by her dog Mia, keeps Janelle fit.
Debbie is an experienced dental assistant and her gentle nature and caring approach puts patients instantly at ease. She is married with two children, both of whom have undergone orthodontic treatment. Debbie maintains a keen interest in the performing arts especially ballet and contemporary dance. For relaxation Debbie enjoys watching a good game of netball, watching a movie or reading a great book, as well as spending time with her family.

Belinda recently added the role of Treatment Coordinator to her bow. She joined the practice over 18 years ago as an Administrator bringing her solid administrative skills to the role. She continues to update our appointments schedule template, various in-house reports and occasionally covers reception. A teacher by profession Belinda also helps with training requirements for the practice. Belinda is an adoring mother and an ideal day is spent with her three children.
Angel is currently working towards the completion of her dental assisting certificate. She is always at the ready to greet patients with her beautiful smile, and takes pride and pleasure in helping patients. After hours Angel finds time of a good work out and meeting friends for dinner.

Steve manages our in-house dental laboratory and the making of appliances for patients. Our “Lord of the Lab” is an expert technician who gained his qualifications in the United Kingdom. With 43 years practical experience to his credit, 32 of these years have been with our practice. Steve has a vast movie collection as well as a collection of interesting novels which bring him equal satisfaction.
